Huron Shores Roadside Park

Huron Shores Roadside Park was where I found my first puddingstone and is the location where I have found the most puddingstones. Our first visit in the fall of 2020 was not all that fruitful, but we thoroughly enjoyed it because we had the entire beach to ourselves for over an hour and the scenery was stunning to enjoy while we were rock hunting.

On our second visit, a little under a year later, I left with a dozen plus puddingstones, varying in size from a tiny pebble up to a palm-filling rock. The park itself is just a little turnout with beach access off US-23 between Rogers City and Cheboygan, but it offers you access to a large stretch of beach that, on both of our visits, was almost empty.

The park does close in the cooler months, but you can still access the facilities by parking just off US-23. Whether you are hunting pudding stones or not, this little turn-out is worth the stop to stretch your legs, use the vault toilet, and enjoy all of the splendor that Lake Huron has to offer.
