What to do in the Lower Peninsula

When most people think about Michigan, they think about the Lower Peninsula and cities like Detroit and Flint. Whereas we love those cities, the Lower Peninsula offers much more than urban landscapes. With hundreds of miles of Great Lake waterfront, hundreds of inland lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams, countless small towns to explore, and thousands of miles of hiking trails, there’s something for everyone. Take a hike, hunt for rocks, or explore a small town you’ve never heard of.

Like Michigan’s UP, telling someone where to go in the lower peninsula is challenging because it’s so large. However, we’ve made this page to share a few of our favorite places in the region to get you started.
