Pier Cove Park

Just west of Fennville in Ganges Township lies a little roadside park hailed by rock hunters as one of the best in the area. Pier Cove is a tiny park that is located where the Pier Cove River meets Lake Michigan. Although the park itself only spans a few hundred feet of beachfront at the most, it gives the public access to miles of beachfront that they can walk on.

The law states that you are allowed to walk on the beach so long as you are within the high water line, which gets you pretty far from the parking area. We didn’t find too many rare rocks at Pier Cove, but we did find some pretty stones that came home with us.

Whether you fancy rock hunting or just a nice beach walk, Pier Cove is a gem in the rough. The parking area is quite tiny, offering only 10 spots, so be prepared to go elsewhere on a nice summer day if you go during peak hours!
