Petoskey Man-Made Waterfall

The man-made waterfall in Bayfront Park near downtown Petoskey is an overlooked marvel in my opinion. The water for the artificial falls comes from a drainage ditch running underneath US-31, falling over the cliff into a creek that eventually winds its way into the bay. Apart from the busy highway buzzing above the falls, one might not know that you were not hiking the depths of the Keweenaw or crawling around Pictured Rocks and Michigan’s most notable waterfalls. I understand the fact that it is man-made makes it a bit less magnificent, but it truly is a beautiful waterfall that you should make a point to see if you are stopping in Petoskey. Man-made or not, it is really neat to take in!
