Munising Falls

Munising Falls is one of the most accessible waterfalls in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and one of the most beautiful, as well. The Munising Falls Creek falls 50 feet over a sandstone cliff, offering a spectacular view from three separate viewing platforms at different elevations below. It was a 30-some-degree day in April when we visited, and we were far from the only visitors at the falls, so I can only imagine how crowded it must be in the warmer months. Crowds aside, Munising Falls is a must-visit when visiting Munising and is a great way to get your feet wet (quite literally) while waterfalling in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Many prefer to visit in the winter when there are fewer people and because the falls form unique ice formations as they freeze. In April, I felt that we got the best of both worlds, as there was still quite a bit of ice buildup, even though the falls were more active than usual due to all of the snow melting. Whatever time of year you go, just make sure you see it!
