Haven Falls

Haven Falls is so accessible that you can see it from the road; however, because it’s slightly off the beaten path, it isn’t often overcrowded, apart from in the peak of tourist season.

Haven Creek is a small flow of water that tumbles some 15 feet before meandering into Lac La Belle. The result is quite gorgeous and showcases the power water can have, even in small amounts.

The waterfall is surrounded by a roadside park in the village of Lac La Belle. There are picnic tables, benches, and a bathroom nearby. It’s a great place for a picnic, to read a book, or to hang out with family and friends. This waterfall is far from remote; you can see homes and cars passing by as you enjoy the view. However, it’s well worth the visit. Standing in the water below the falls feels magical, even in the cooler months.

To visit the falls, you can take Gay Lac La Belle Road from US-41 for an out-and-back trip that’ll set you back roughly 15 minutes total. I recommend viewing Haven Falls on the way back down from Copper Harbor. Take US-41 to Gay Lac La Belle Road, visit Haven Falls, then continue down Gay Lac La Belle Road, making stops at Brunette Park, Tobacco River Falls & Park, in Gay, before returning to US-41 via Mohawk Gay Road or Lake Linden Gay Road.

Regardless of how you get there and where you go afterward, Haven Falls is well worth the visit.
