Christmas Cove Beach

Christmas Cove Beach is one of many great beaches to look for Petoskey Stones and other pretty rocks on the Leelanau Peninsula. Located just up the shoreline from Peterson Park, you will find similar rocks at both beaches. Christmas Cove is sandier, but overall is a great rock-hunting beach and is very peaceful. We found a number of Petoskey Stones and other fossils here, and my first piece of unakite as well. The parking lot is beginning to erode away, so accessing this beach may be more difficult in the future. When we visited, we were the only ones there, but in the warmer months I would imagine it’s more crowded.
