Cheboygan Pierhead Light

The Cheboygan Pierhead Light is a small tower at the end of the pier where the Cheboygan River enters Lake Huron. I have surprisingly found little to no information about this small tower online, as it is often overshadowed by the Cheboygan Crib Light that was relocated from 2,000 feet offshore to the other end of the pier from the small tower pictured here in 1984. The pierhead light appears to be of the same era as the lights that were constructed on Great Lake channels in the 1980s. I might guess that it was added to mark the entrance of the Cheboygan River after the crib light was removed, but I cannot verify that. The Cheboygan Pierhead Light is accessible from Gordon Turner Park and should not be missed if you are already in the area!
